Note: We do not recommend removing the desk mount. If you absolutely must remove it, use the instructions below to carefully remove the desk mount without damaging your master control unit.
Before getting started, make sure your system is disarmed and the power transformer is unplugged from the wall.
To take the desk mount off of the Simon XT panel you will first need to open up the panel, this is to avoid damaging the electronics in the panel as you remove the base from the back plate.
The first step in opening the panel is to remove the screw in the top of the panel.
Once the screw is out you will push down the two buttons on the top of the panel to open it.
Once the panel is open you have access to where the desk mount tabs snap into the back plate.
From there you can push or pry the bottom tab out, or simply pull on the top of the desk mount and bend it back, it will pop off or break without damaging the panel's back plate.
If this fails you may need to snap the tab off with a pair of pliers or cut it off with a utility knife.
The last step is to disconnect the two white power wires from the screw terminals in the back of the panel, make sure you do not touch the two wires together to avoid damaging the power supply. Then you can pull the wire out of the desk mount and reattach the two connections to the panel.
If you are going to wall mount this unit, see this post.
