Great, but how do you open the box to change the battery?

Wish the battery would have lasted a little more than 15 months, but was very inexpensive to replace. I love having my alarm system from SafeMart. All the parts are readily available if you need anything. The How To videos are great as well. Saved a bunch of money, customized the alarm the way I wanted, and when it needs to be fixed, I do it myself.

    Hi Richard,

I am glad to hear that you are happy with our service! It's unfortunate that the battery in your system did not last as long as it was supposed to; typically the backup battery in the Simon XT/XTi lasts about 3-5 years (depending on use). Fortunately, the vast majority of our customers don't experience problems with the backup battery on the Simon system. If you have any other questions, please let us know or search our Help Center!

    Hi,

My Simon XT was installed in July 2011, and the 'Low System Battery' came up last night. I just checked the voltage which showed 5.13V. Do I need to replace it? Is it still under warranty?

I have the above issue and press six and nothing happens. Is there another way to check the volt?

    Hi Lulu,

If you press the number 6 button for 10 seconds and nothing happens then this means you do not have a cellular communicator in your system for monitoring purposes. There is no other way of being able to see the current voltage of a battery.

In this situation I would recommend running the sensors test (steps shown above), if this doesn't clear the low battery then you will need to replace the battery.

    Hi,

My Simon XT has been in use about 4 years and we got a low battery message this morning.  I tested it using the "6" key like you suggested, and the battery shows 6.63v still.  You don't say what the minimum rating should be on the voltage of the battery before replacement.  What should it be, and at what voltage does the simon xt start dinging you to replace the battery?

    Thanks!

Never did see a reply on what voltage should be

The voltage should be somewhere around 6.5 V typically. The control panel will start giving you the low battery trouble if it is below 5.4 V or if the battery is wearing out and not holding the charge like it should. If the voltage is above 5.4 V and you have already done the sensor test and the low battery message will not go away, then the battery is probably not holding the charge properly and needs to be replaced. You can unplug the power supply for a few minutes and check the voltage again to see how quickly the voltage drops when running on battery.
