    Joe,

I have a quick question regarding the SIMON XT, im having a system installed next week by my current Monitoring Service.

Can I install/add any Z-Wave device to the system or does it have to be GE only?  I will have an alarm.com account as well if that makes any  difference.

    Hi David,

We recommend using the Z-Wave devices we have on our site as those we can help you out with if they are not functioning as they should and they would be covered under warranty. Having stated that, you can use almost any Z-Wave device with your system, regardless of brand. However, if it is not a "tried and true" product that we have vetted, your experience may not be the same as that if you were using our recommended products.

    Cheers,

    Joe

I replaced my Trane Z-wave Thermostat with a NEST Learning Thermostat.  I did not remove the Trane from my Z-wave setup on my Simon XT before I disconnected it and took it off the wall.  How can I remove the Trane Thermostat from my system now?

    Scott,

If the device is in malfunction then we are able to delete that device remotely for you. Otherwise deleting the device must be done manually, you will need the device powered up and within 6ft of your main control panel. In about the 10th paragraph above it goes through how to remove a zwave device.

''You can delete a device from its current network whether it’s in the Simon XT’s  network or another network.  On a Simon XT 1.3 follow the instructions for Adding a Z-Wave Device, except scroll to “Delete Device” after entering “Z-Wave Setup”. Once in Delete mode, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for deleting the device.''

I hope this helps, if you have any further questions you might submit a ticket at help.safemart.com for further assistance. Let us know if you need anything else.

    Have a great day!

    Safe Mart team,

I just received and installed a simon XTi with a large array of wireless sensors window break and image capture motion sensors.. Prior to this purchase/install I had a zwave enabled system that included 3 Schlage locks a BE469NK and Fe 599 and a BE369. All 3 of thses devices fail to enroll to the Simon XTi... I get the device enrolled from the panel successfully however the lock show an error in the 2nd stage of enrollment process. when I login to Alarm.com I see the locks when I click on the lock sub page i see the following error.. A secure connection was not established during the enrollment of the following lock(s):

    Hello Darrius,

Thank you for contacting SafeMart. Not all Zwave compatible devices are compatible with Alarm.com. There are some Schlage locks that will work but we do not sell them, so I am not sure witch ones they would be. If you follow the steps below and you still cannot get them to work then they are most likely not compatible.

    1. Makes sure the panel is no more than 6ft away from the lock. If it is any further the lock will not enroll securely.
    2. Press the gear icon at the bottom right of the screen and scroll down to the last page of settings. Press Enter next to System Programming and type in you installer code followed by Ok. Press Interactive Services then Z-Wave Setup then Delete** Z-Wave Device**.
    3. Once the panel says "Press Button on Device" push the same buttons that you would push to add the lock into the panel. If the panel beeps and says device deleted then that means it had old information programmed into the lock.
    4. You can now try to add the Lock into the system.

For a list of our compatible locks please see the link below.

I am using   http://www.kwikset.com/Products/Details/Electronic-Locks/910TRL-ZW-11P-SMT.aspx  (99100) which is listed a compatible z-wave lock. I tried 5 times and each time I got same error on alarm.com empower tab:

A secure connection was not established during the enrollment of the following:

After getting this error there is no lock/unlock through mobile app or the control panel. I following above instructions careful 5 times I had to give up.

My controller is Simon XTi and it list following in Z-wave section

    Controller Capability: 1C

    Version: 3.28

Do I need any update to my controller to make this lock work with my controller.

    Hi Vikas,

You do not need to update the controller in order for the lock to work with the panel. With this particular error, you will want to start off by removing the lock from your Simon XTi, even if it is not currently added. This will wipe any old network information from the lock. You will then need to wait 3 minutes before adding the lock back into the panel since the Simon XTi will often receive commands from alarm.com to clear out old information for that lock. Once the panel shows "device added", wait 60 seconds before exiting the zwave add mode to allow the lock time to receive the secure enrollment commands from alarm.com. If the lock still does not complete secure enrollment, I would recommend submitting a ticket to our support team so that we can troubleshoot the specific details for your account.

    Have a great day!

    VY,

Did this issue ever get resolved, because I am having the same problem , and like you have also deleted and re-added 5 times?  If your issue was fixed, please tell me how.  Thank you.

    Hi,

I successfully added a Leviton lamp controler device to my Simon XTI. While I can control it at the panel, the Alarm.com site does not have the em-power options enabled .. so I can' control it remotely. I tried a comm test (which was successful).

What do I have to do to get the accessible via Alarm.com?

    Thanks

    jeff

    Hi Jeff,

Typically, you would need to have the proper monitoring service plan in order to have access to the EmPower tab in alarm.com. I would recommend submitting an email to support@livewatch.com with your account information so that we can take a look and figure out what the service plan is for your account. If you are monitored through another company, you would want to check with them to make sure you have zwave control on your service plan.

Two questions: is there a way to add a zwave smoke detector to the Simon XT and have it report alerts to alarm.com? I added a First Alert smoke detector to my panel and it showed up on the website as a ZWave device. When smoke is detected, the detector will beep as usual, but the system does nothing when smoke is detected. No alerts are received on my phone. There seems to be no rules I can set on the alarm.com website.

My second question is: what kind of plan do I need for a video camera? I have the empower tab in my plan, but I don't see anything for live video, or even any plans that will allow this on the Safemart website. What's the pricing?

    Hi Mario,

Unfortunately, alarm.com zwave only supports lights, locks, and thermostats, so even though you may be able to add other types of zwave devices to the alarm panel, there is no way to receive alerts when they are triggered.

For live video, there is an additional monthly fee of $9.95. The video cameras would be run through your internet router.

    Take care!

    Anthony
