In the infrequent, but important case of fire, flood, intrusion or other “trouble signals”, we alert the system owner, the authorities and potentially emergency contacts like you. If the "trouble signal" is in fact a real alarm, we only ask that the emergency contact help us to notify the owner of the system as fast as possible. Often the emergency contact can track down the owner before we can, should the owner be on vacation or in a location where they owner does not have the phone with them that we have on record.
We do alert the emergency responders and they are able to take the best course of action to best handle the incident that caused the "trouble signal". The emergency contact helps us to notify the system owner.
